Improving early diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis
Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disease that affects 18 million people worldwide. It is a permanent condition that causes pain, swelling and stiffness in the joints. Early diagnosis and management can reduce symptoms, slow the disease progression and prevent disability. In some cases, the disease can go into remission (WHO).

Rapid RA test – new point-of-care test by Novio Catalpa
One of the most specific markers for diagnosing RA is the presence of anti-citrullinated protein antibodies (ACPA) in the blood. Currently, most tests for detecting these antibodies are complex and require sophisticated laboratory equipment. Novio Catalpa together with researchers at Radboud University have developed a new test that will change that.
