Who we are

The Novio Catalpa team consists of experienced professionals with a track record in the biotech industry. This includes the development of the current golden standard assay for the diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis in collaboration with the Radboud University in the Netherlands.

  • Experienced team – combining science and business

  • Strong track record – successful development current leading test

  • Scientific advisory – supported by leading scientists

Key capabilities in Research & Development, Finance and Business development are represented in the team. Complementary to this the team has the support of an advisory board with members of high reputation in their field.

How we work

Novio Catalpa cooperates with the Department of Biomolecular Chemistry of the Radboud University. The scientists involved have key knowledge for the detection of antibodies related to auto-immune disorders.

  • Committed cooperation – with the Department of Biomolecular Chemistry of the Radboud University

  • In depth biochemistry knowledge – working with leading scientists in the field

  • Execution of high quality research – access to excellent laboratory facilities

Teaming up with leading scientists adds in-depth biochemistry knowledge and unique research skills. Access to sophisticated laboratory facilities to perform our research is another important benefit of this collaboration.

Meet Our Team

We believe that early diagnostics that is accessible for everybody who needs is, when they need it, where they need it, is a top priority in healthcare.

Dr. Martin Salden
Dr. Martin SaldenCEO / R&D Director
Martin Salden is a Biochemist graduated from the Radboud University of Nijmegen, The Netherlands. He specialized at the laboratory of Haematology in immunology and laboratory diagnostics of auto-immune diseases. For EuroDiagnostica he worked as manager R&D in Arnhem and Nijmegen. He developed the golden standard assay, anti-CCP2, for the serological diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis in collaboration with the department of Biochemistry of the Radboud University (Prof. Walther van Venrooij). Has set up a commercial service laboratory, Wieslab, for auto-immune testing.
Drs. René Reijtenbagh
Drs. René ReijtenbaghCFO
René Reijtenbagh is a seasoned specialist in private investing. He has a track record in securing funding for startups with a focus on Life sciences and Chemistry. His skills in business development and coaching of startups are an important success factor for this. René holds a masters degree in Economic Geography.
Massis Krekorian PhD
Massis Krekorian PhDSenior Scientist
Massis Krekorian is a research scientist in the field of biomedical science. His PhD involved the creation of radioactive labelled PLGA nanoparticles for in vivo imaging of immune cells in cancer. During his post doc he further expanded the capabilities of the radiolabelled PLGA nanoparticle for targeting autoreactive immune cells in autoimmune disease. At Novio Catalpa, he will incorporate his broad experience in further developing tools to help advance the current health care.
Prof. Ger Pruijn
Prof. Ger PruijnAdvisory Board
Prof. Pruijn is Biomolecuar Chemistry Chair at the Radboud University. The research on structure and biological function of biomolecular complexes is important for the detection of antibodies present as a result of auto-immune disorders. Prof. Pruijn’s research group has expert knowledge in this field that is very beneficial for the research and development activities of Novio Catalpa.

“Science knows no country, because knowledge belongs to humanity, and is the torch which illuminates the world. Science is the highest personification of the nation because that nation will remain the first which carries the furthest the works of thought and intelligence.”
